HOOK NORTON F.C. 2 – OLD WOODSTOCK TOWN F.C. 3

For the second week in a row Hooky were unable to hold onto a lead against one of the top sides in

the division, The Brewery Boys led twice before going down 3-2 late on with a bizarre goal settling

the match.

Hooky started the game in the ascendency and went close through Jason Tillcock who was just

unable to get a touch to a James Robbins cross on 12 minutes, Hooky continued to dominate

proceedings and went in front on 24 minutes. The hardworking Danny Poole won two tackles

before splitting the OWT back line with a well weighted pass for Jason Tillcock to slip the ball past

the the advancing keeper.

OWT began to show why they will be competing for honours this season with the impressive

Murray Nicholls pulling the strings from midfield, however Joe Murrell was rarely seriously

troubled. Until the 45th minute when a through ball was not cleared by Chris Tillcock allowing Ali

Robinson to slide the ball past Joe Murrell from a tight angle to draw the visitors level at the break.

Half Time 1:1

Five minutes into the second half Hooky regained the lead through Reve Basanti, Jason Tillcock

broke clear down the left and his shot rebounded back off a post for Basanti to finish from close

range.

OWT wre awarded a free kick a minute later, Nicholls took the kick which crashed back off the bar

with Murrell well beaten.

The visitors drew level for the second time, Murrell adjudged to have tripped Murray Nicholls in

the box for which he received a booking. Danny Bone stepped up to send Murrell the wrong way

from the penalty spot to draw the visitors level.

It proved not to be Hooky's day when a bizarre third goal settled proceedings.

Keeper Joe Murrell rushed out towards the corner flag to clear a through ball, the ball hit the

pitchside railing striaght back into the arms of Danny Bone, who threw the ball quickly back into

play along the 18 yard box for Murray Nicholls to slam in the deciding goal before Murrell could

regain his ground.
