SATURDAY 17TH DECEMBER 2011
Hooky slipped to their eighth straight defeat in all competitons losing at home 5-2 to Carterton F.C.
Hooky went behind as early as the 2nd minute, Chris Mills breaking through with only keeper Joe Murrell to beat, Murrell made a good save only to see the ball rebound to Jamie MacDonagh who calmly lobbed the ball into the empty net with Murrell stranded.
From the re-start Hooky had a good chance to hit straight back, Mark Dennis winning the ball in a chase with the keeper, only to find his goal ward bound shot cleared by the covering defender on the line.
Things got even worse for Hooky on 15 minutes, Ben Fitzmartin latching onto a through ball and coolly finishing from a tight angle.
Half Time 0-2
Hooky halved the deficit on 46 minutes Jamie Wyatt curling a superb shot into the top corner from 20 yards to give “The Brewery Boys” a huge lift,.
At this point Hooky were in total control and looked as if they may go onto gain points from the game, but for all their possession they could not find a way through the Carterton defence, and has been the case so often before this season Hooky were unable to defend a right wing free kick allowing Lee Watkins a free header from six yaeds out to give Murrell very little chance and extend Carterton’s lead.
Hooky slipped further behind on 72 minutes, a Chris Tillcock back pass did not find Murrell and Chris Mills nipped in to score inside the keepers near post.
Hooky made it 4-2 four minutes later with the move of the match.
The impressive Chris Tillcock broke from the back and found Danny Poole, Poole’s exquisite pass over the top of the Carterton defence was well controlled by Jamie Wyatt who calmly took the ball around the keeper and slid into the empty net.
Chris Mills finished off the scoring on 80 minutes racing onto a through ball, outpacing Harrison Foster in the Hooky defence and slotting the ball past Murrell.
